DLA Piper advises Sharp Alpha on USD34 million seed investment round in Poolhouse
DLA Piper has advised Sharp Alpha, the US games and entertainment-focused venture capital investor on leading a USD34 million investment round in Poolhouse, a new tech-enabled pool entertainment business.
The capital will be used to accelerate Poolhouse’s plan to revolutionise the game of pool. Developed by Steve and Dave Jolliffe, the founders of the TopGolf franchise the venture will combine proprietary technology with a vibrant Las Vegas-inspired ambiance offering guests of all skill levels an engaging experience with a diverse library of interactive pool games.
Poolhouse is expected to operate its own venues starting with a site close to central London’s Liverpool Street Station, with the business also looking to license its technology to hospitality operators around the world.
Joining Sharp Alpha in the round were DMG Ventures, Active Partners, Emerging Fund, Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner David Blitzer, and Simon Sports, co-owner of Ipswich Town FC.
A team from DLA Piper’s London office worked on the transaction led by Corporate partner Alexander Kolmakov, supported by senior associate Julian Bajada and associate Jake Manton. The team also comprised of IPT partner John Wilks and associate Dan Cartmell.
